TrotroLive helps people in Accra take the trotro with confidence: the official fare, the right station and the way there, before they leave home.
Who we are
TrotroLive is a product of Urban Africa, based in Accra. Urban Africa operates TrotroLive and is responsible for the service and for the personal data it handles.
Our mission
Trotros move most of Accra, but the information riders need lives in people’s heads: which station, which mate’s call, how much. We put that information in one place, keep it current, and make paying the driver as simple as sending Mobile Money.
What TrotroLive does today
- Official GPRTU fares, taken from the union’s published fare notices and shown with the date they took effect. Check a fare.
- Trip planning on the live map: the station to board at, each leg of the trip and the fare.
- Ananse, an assistant you can ask in plain words how to get somewhere.
- Pay the driver by Mobile Money with the QR sticker or 6-digit code on the vehicle. Payment terms.
- Live vehicle tracking, being switched on route by route as drivers join.
Fares and the unions
The fares on TrotroLive are the official fares published by the GPRTU. We load each fare notice with its effective date, so riders see the amount that applies today and know when it changes.
